This video reflects an important civic project undertaken by the Asian American Institute (AAI) in 2012, the Asian American Legislative Caucus. AAI and other community leaders recognized the need for institutional leadership, and chose to build a caucus that would take the voices of the community and bring them to a critical seat of power in Illinois and make change. In crafting this caucus the Asian American community indicated its commitment to the civic process by becoming collaborators in mobilizing the electorate, building policy solutions and seeing them through implementation.
