How Big Money Politics Undermines Our Democracy
Interest groups, such as Political Action Committees (PACs), along with large individual contributors (LICs) make up what is referred to as "Big Money Politics." It is these groups and contributors that undermine our democracy in America by swaying elections, regardless of political party, to reelect politicians who accept their campaign finances over and over again. This cycle leads to policy paralysis, and causes an ineffective government. The majority of Americans - as well as the majority of voters for Obama and the majority of voters for Romney in the 2012 election - agree that something needs to be done to address big money politics.
