Find and Share Youth Voices, Build a Stronger Community

The American Teenager Project believes that the answer to democracy is creating spaces in which young people can communicate their true selves with each other across difference and in doing so develop a compassionate understanding of the "other". We do this by teaching young people to take each other's portrait and personal biography and helping them to delve deep into authentic conversations about what it means to be a young person in our society and how we can together build a stronger future. As youth gain an understanding of the complexity and commonality in their experiences, and share this publicly, they press adults to make choices for the direction we take our society based on the true needs and potential of youth.
