Living Room Conversations: Building a Healthier Democracy
A conversation between people that share the same opinion is simply a conversation. A conversation between people that have different opinions holds the possibility of becoming explosive. A Living Room Conversation between people that have differing viewpoints provides the opportunity for understanding... collaboration... innovation... solutions. Imagine the ripple effect of Living Room Conversations throughout the country -- those conversations would build a healthier democracy. Join us at www.LivingRoomConversations.org.

It's counter-cultural to have people with differences talking to each other - and just plain radical to have Joan and Mark making the call to do it. Way to go Living Room Conversations

I agree completely with Mary's comment above! Counter-cultural and radical. Great concept: timely, and powerful. We can no longer rely on our elected leaders alone (and certainly not the media representing "opposing" viewpoints) to remove the wedges that "divide" us.

Wow. I'm blown away by this idea. We've become so divided as a nation of liberals vs. conservatives. It's incredible to think that co-founds of MoveOn.org and the Tea Party could have any beliefs in common. This idea gives me hope. Perhaps citizens can set an example for our grid-locked congress. Maybe we all CAN just get along, if we learn to listen with respect...

I really want to do one of these. I've been trying to have these types of conversations one-on-one on issues including guns, education, and health reform. I've been pleasantly surprised by how many times we can find points of agreement and shared values. And they've been some of the most educational conversations I've had lately. If only our nation's leaders would get beyond posturing and realize we have to try to find a shared path forward. So grateful to Joan and Mark for having the vision to do this.

If I were a judge, you'd be on my short list. You fit the criteria as well as I do. Look at my submission. "Elections Clarified" https://vimeo.com/64616892 or
