In 2012, I voted in my first Presidential election, and during that process, I noticed great emphasis in our country on the support of one's political party rather than on the support of our nation's future; insults hurled at one another, stereotypes and strawmen being created, and people clinging more tightly to the rhetoric of their "party" than to their own ideals. This is not the democracy that I hoped for. If we want to solve the nation's greatest problems, we will need to set our differences aside and not only work together, but learn from each other. And if we want to see a future where more people will look beyond their own political landscape, this generation must be lead the change to make this dream a reality.
