Visting Washington, DC: Students Today, Voters Tomorrow
Reflecting on her first trip to Washington, D.C., Maria Socorro "Coco"Corona -- a mother of six, a first-time voter, and the first Latina president of the PTA for a long time in the tiny California coastal town of Pescadero -- makes a case for helping as many students as possible to make the journey. By learning more about their country as children, students may be more informed voters when they become adults.

Sarah B, Maria C and Aldo F worked together on this video. We hope you like it -- and we hope you will help us to help more students go to Washington, DC to learn more about our country!

Thank you, Sarah B. Yes it is sad, not all 7th & 8th graders get to go. Parents do not sign them because it cost to much. In this last trip, from 34 students only 16 got to go.

Great video! This is a very deserving group of kids in a somewhat isolated rural town. The kids fund raise for their trip in creative ways and are deserving of any and all support they can get.

So happy to have stumbled across your video, CoCo. I remember when my son went on the trip. It was an incredible experience. Thank you for what you have done here and your creativity, helping get more families involved so that more of our middle schoolers are able to experience a trip like this!
