Making Democracy Reality
Four ordinary citizens are about to enter the new "Citizen Legislature Chosen by Random Selection of the Willing and the Able." Why did they place themselves in the lottery to be selected? What do they expect to accomplish? Will they be able to do the job?

This is a great video - gave me a sense of what it would be like to have a citizen legislature. But it needs to say something about that up-front. It is a bit confusing whether it really happened and the fact that it didn't undermines the brilliance of helping us imagine that it could. The actors here are very convincing "ordinary people".

This is my favorite of the three videos about citizen legislators, because the people convey the mix of excitement and anxiety of being chosen for such a duty. I second Tom's point about an explanation up-front, though the timing/montage seems perfect the way it is.

I also wondered if this video had enough explanation about what sortition is, but now I think it's good to leave the viewer with some questions. Great video. Really fresh and engaging.

Does "sortition" involve some kind of qualification process?
