A Dashboard for Democracy
What if there was a single place you could go to access and share ideas about how to end the corruption that threatens our democracy? What if all organizations committed to democracy reform could post essential action items in one central location? Rootstrikers, a new generation of activists taking a stand against the corrupting influence of money in politics, has built a beta version of an open source volunteer dashboard [with the help of our amazing volunteers], and would like your help in being able to scale it to its full potential – from a crowdsourcing social media tool for our volunteers to a full dashboard for activating a reform movement.
At Rootstrikers, we believe that our politicians' dependence on special interest cash threatens the future of our democracy and critically weakens public trust. But we also think that only people can force lasting change, and so we are committed to building tools that directly empower ordinary citizens to challenge this extraordinary problem. Henry David Thoreau once said "There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root" — so do we practice.
Freeing our democracy from the grip of lobbyists and undue corporate influence is the surest way to strengthen it. However, to do that, people need to first believe it's possible. What better way to show people the power of democracy, and the importance of reclaiming it, than to create a democratic space for this movement to begin?
Thank you for considering our project!

Thanks, holly and Ernie! If you're interested in trying out the dash while it's in testing mode, you should be able to do so through http://vdash.rootstrikers.org/

This is such a worthy cause. I'm excited for the launch of the volunteer dashboard!
