Out of Many, One: The Democracy Network
- Our video details the current state of American democracy and what we believe could be done to fix it. We propose that the most important avenue for improvement is the strengthening of civic engagement. Our solution, the Democracy Network, is a national organization of citizens facilitating education on, discussion about, and engagement with democracy in America. Beginning at the University of Virginia, the Democracy Network would reach out to students and community members to promote thought, discussion, and participation. This group is not limited to those interested in politics and policy. Conversely, this group is open to all citizens of our American democracy. We believe that we can strengthen our democracy if we have organizations like the Democracy Network that give citizen’s agency in the political process and foster participation in the shaping of our democratic system.

Well done video, but I wasn't clear on the solution. Maybe time was a constraining factor, but I would liked to hear more about the network.

Sounds like we should connect! I run a network of 1700 innovators in dialogue, deliberation, and public engagement called the National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation. NCDD serves as a gathering place, a resource center, a news source, and a facilitative leader for an active community of practice centered around the practices of dialogue and deliberation. Let me know if you'd like to connect. - Sandy Heierbacher, director of NCDD, sandy@ncdd.org
