myvotenow.org
Have an opinion about an upcoming bill? myvotenow is a website accessible from your smart phone or computer that lets you have a say in Washington . . . and keep tabs on whether your representatives are listening. It enables you to send your votes on upcoming bills to your representatives, then stay up to date on how your representatives vote over time. Here's how it works: myvotenow gives voters online access to all upcoming legislation, filtered and ordered based on the individual's preferences, and an easy means to vote on those items. Then myvotenow tallies those votes and provides a summary of the results in time for the representative to consider their constituents' voices. Representatives' votes are then displayed, so voters can see how aligned they are. myvotenow puts the power of democracy in the palm of your hand. Visit http://myvotenow.org for a complete description. (myvotenow is going to be incorporated as a 501(c)(3).)

I think this is a logical next step for both voters and the democratic process.

Hi @Stella A.C - Thank you (and thanks to everyone who has provided supportive comments). We hope to go live with our first release by the end this summer. How we do on this challenge and subsequent challenges is helping to shape us. We will be seeking additional "citizen developers" (a.k.a. volunteer developers) to join our current team, and our release schedule will undoubtedly be tied to that.

We need to make the political process more accessible and transparent. This should go a long way!

Nice idea. I'm surprised the government has not provided this as a public service.

Pretty tight concept, and smooth looking too! I think a well-produced tool like this would go a long way in giving real voices back to Americans/connecting voters to their government in an effective way. And that's what it should all be about.

What a brilliant idea! I have always suspected that Congress's constituents are special interest groups, NOT people. This is the tool to track whether they REALLY represent us!

This could be a great tool to encourage public participation in other local issues, like planning parks and communities.

Thank you, Stephanie, for your suggestion regarding the application of myvotenow in other local issues. Your suggestion is definitely on our product roadmap!

A good idea: a round-table family discussion showed full support. We've all been misled by policos' double speak on issues..

I love the simplicity of this idea -- even someone who is not particularly tech-savvy can use technology to get more engaged with the legislative process. Brilliant!
